Born 1955 in Roosendaal, Holland. Married Lucia, an Italian woman and moved to Ventimiglia, Italy. Since 1991 living there with his family in a house overlooking the river Roya Valley.

After studying at the Arts Academy of the Hague Leo Wesel was trained and inspired by two leading expressionist artists, professor Wil Bouthhoom and professor Wim Schutz. The french painter Serge Hélénon and french/italian artist Bernhard Damiano have both influenced and stimulated the artworks of Leo Wesel

He has worked as an artist since 1980. He followed courses “Lavoro con Ardesia” ( working with slate)
in 2002 and 2003 ( Nuovi Orrizzonti - Moilini di Triora, Italy)

Leo Wesel maintains a working relationship with the Dutch expressionists Wim Schutz, the French painter Serge Hélènon, the Italian-French Painter Bernard Damiano, the Italian painter Sergio Biancheri and the American professor of ceramics in Monaco, Daphné Corregan.

Exhibitions
 
Further to his recent exhibitionsin various countries, there will be more opportunities to enjoy the artistic work of Leo Wesel. Currently, there is an exhibitions in the Museum Moderne (Palais l'Europe) of Menton, (France), in the Spring there is an exhibitions at the "In Art" gallery, Haaren, Noord-Brabant, (Netherlands), and in October at the AL Gallery in Budapest, (Hungary). Last, but not least, there will be a new book published in 2008 with a review of his work. Europe will know him better and further appreciate him.
